The Empty Shop.

On Thursday 30th January I volunteered at The Empty Shop in the Arndale Centre Manchester, and what a day it was.

The Empty Shop was set up in partnership with Mustard Tree to get clothes donations from the public, that would later be taken to people  in need. I thought this was such a fab idea I just had to get involved.

The shop has already been open a week before I volunteered as a blogger/stylist for the day, there had been such a great response from the public and they were already passed their 100th donator.

My role for the day was to style the mannequins in the clothes from the donation, this being a promotional aid to help bring people into the shop and ask questions. Not only did we have donations from the public of second hand clothing, but retailers such as Jones and Jones were also coming and donating a selection of clothing from their stores.

It felt so good to be a part of something amazing, and it was great to see the people of Manchester and surrounding areas coming together to help people in need.

Although the shop closed this past Sunday, I hope The Empty Shop will become an annual project, and due to the success of this first trial will spread the shop all over the UK/ World.

Here are a few images from the day.

Mannequins styled by myself and Rachel a freelance stylist also volunteering.
